Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has launched its annual Santa Appeal to ensure no child in the county borough goes without a Christmas present this year.
Year on year, kind-hearted residents, businesses and partner organisation donate thousands of presents between them to ensure children and young people have a gift to open on Christmas morning.
Thanks to their overwhelming generosity each of the children - identified by social workers – was able to enjoy a present which had been thoughtfully chosen for them and their age.
Supporting the Santa Appeal is easy, all you have to do is email Santaappeal@rctcbc.gov.uk or phone 01443 425025 and state how many children you wish to purchase a gift for.
Customer care staff, working with social workers will allocate you an alias name (to protect the identity of the child) but it will represent a real child in Rhondda Cynon Taf and their age.
After choosing a gift, simply place it in an open gift bag (please do not wrap them) and drop it off at a collection point by the closing date.
Our incredible Santa’s helpers – Rhondda Cynon Taf Council staff who volunteer their time – will then collect all the presents and ensure they are at the distribution centre, ready to be given to the children by social workers by Christmas Eve.
Cllr Gareth Caple, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Social Care, said: “Every year, we are overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity shown by our residents, businesses and partners through the Santa Appeal.
“It’s a true reflection of the Christmas spirit, as people pledge to purchase gifts and then thoughtfully choose an item or items they know the child will enjoy.
“They say it’s the most wonderful time of the year, and it certainly is as we gather thousands of presents, knowing each of them are going to a child to open on Christmas Day.
“If you are returning to donate to the Santa Appeal for 2026, we thank you for your continued support. If this will be the first year you have got involved – welcome to one of the best things you will do all year!”
The Santa Appeal will open from November 3, meaning you can email or ring from that date to make your pledges. Phone lines are open Tuesday-Friday 9.30am-4.30pm. You can make a pledge between November 3 and December 11.
