Fifteen community groups across Rhondda Cynon Taf are set to improve local buildings, sports facilities and community spaces after receiving more than £86,000 through the UK Government’s Pride in Place Impact Fund.
A total of £86,170.50 has been awarded to organisations across the County Borough, supporting practical improvements to facilities used every day by residents, volunteers, sports clubs and community groups.
Projects range from kitchen refurbishments and building improvements to renewable energy installations, sports facility upgrades and community growing projects, helping local organisations improve the spaces at the heart of their communities.
The money forms part of the UK Government’s Pride in Place Impact Fund, which has provided a £1.5m allocation for Rhondda Cynon Taf.
The Pride in Place Impact Fund was launched in May 2026 to support short-term projects responding directly to local priorities, with a particular focus on improving community and public spaces and supporting town centres and high streets.
The 15 successful community projects will help improve well-used local assets and ensure groups have the facilities they need to continue providing activities, opportunities and support for residents.
These community buildings, clubs and spaces play an important role in bringing people together, supporting wellbeing and creating a stronger sense of pride in local areas.
Councillor Bob Harris, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: “I am delighted that 15 community groups across Rhondda Cynon Taf have been awarded funding through the Pride in Place Impact Fund, helping them make improvements to the facilities and spaces that are so important to local residents.
“Our community groups, clubs and voluntary organisations make an enormous contribution to life in Rhondda Cynon Taf. They bring people together, provide activities and opportunities, support wellbeing and help create a strong sense of pride in our communities.
“This funding will deliver practical improvements that people will be able to see and benefit from, whether that is a refurbished kitchen, improvements to a community building, better sports facilities, renewable energy measures or new community growing spaces.
“While many of these are relatively small-scale capital projects, they can make a significant difference to the organisations that run these facilities and the residents who use them every day.
“These are exactly the kind of visible, locally-focused improvements that Pride in Place funding is intended to support, and I look forward to seeing the projects take shape across the County Borough.”
Work on the projects will take place over the coming months. Many are expected to be completed during summer and autumn 2026, while others will continue into early 2027. All projects must be completed by the end of March 2027.

The UK Government’s Pride in Place funding also supports the Council’s wider TransformingRCT campaign, highlighting visible investment and improvements taking place in communities across Rhondda Cynon Taf.
