Please note, there will be temporary bus arrangements in place in Talbot Green over the next two weeks, due to a road closure needed for gas main works at Talbot Road.
Wales & West Utilities will require the closure, for a gas main replacement, from Monday, September 21, to Friday, October 2.
The road closure will be at Talbot Road, from the eastern side of its junction with Heol y Gyfraith, in both directions for 39-metres – as shown on the following map.
The alternative route for motorists, also shown on the map, will be clearly signposted via Talbot Road, Lanelay Road, the A473, and the A4119.
Access cannot be maintained for emergency services nor buses, but access will be maintained for pedestrians and to premises. Access to the nearby retail park will not be affected.
Bus services impacted by this closure include Edwards Service 100, along with Stagecoach Services 122 (Tonypandy-Cardiff), 124 (Cardiff-Maerdy), and 404 (Pontypridd-Bridgend).
A FREE shuttle bus organised by the Council will be operated by Jarvis Coaches Ltd – serving Talbot Green Bus Station, L’Oreal Bus Stop, and the Royal Glamorgan Hospital, travelling via the A473 and A4119.
Passengers on all routes can use the Royal Glamorgan Hospital stop to transfer to the shuttle bus, for onward travel to Talbot Green Bus Station. The L’Oreal Bus Stop will also be used to transfer passengers to and from Talbot Green.
Two shuttle buses will operate on Mondays to Saturdays (5am to 11:34pm) and one bus will operate on Sunday, September 27 (5am to 10pm). The full timetable is shown here.
In relation to Council school and college transport, students using Route 025/10 (Llanharan to Bryncelynnog Comprehensive School) and Route 201/01 (Tyla Garw to Ysgol Llanhari), who normally use stops within the affected area, will be contacted directed with details of temporary transport arrangements.
All other school and college buses will operate via the diversion route. This may result in some delays when serving stops in and around the road closure area.
Thanks to residents and road users in advance for your cooperation.
