What Lifeline is
Lifeline is a personal alarm service that helps people live independently and safely in their own home. It is available to anyone living in Rhondda Cynon Taf for a small charge.
You will receive a Lifeline alarm unit, a waterproof personal alarm button that can be worn as a pendant or wristband and a key safe.
If you need assistance, press the alarm button to speak to an advisor at our 24-hour monitoring centre. Our advisors will arrange help. If you need it, our Mobile Responder staff visit your home to check on you. All Mobile Responder staff have been trained by the Welsh Ambulance Service to assess each situation, provide first aid, personal care and support, and use specialist lifting equipment if needed.
Further equipment is availble through our Lifeline Home Safety Package.
Who it is for
Our Lifeline service is available to anyone living in Rhondda Cynon Taf who would benefit from extra reassurance and support at home whether this is a long or a shot term arrangement.
The service may be helpful if you:
- Live alone
- Have a disability or long-term health condition
- Are at risk of falls
- Are recovering from illness or injury
- Care for someone who needs additional support
- Want extra peace of mind for yourself or a loved one
How it works
Your Lifeline package includes a Lifeline unit that connects to our 24/7 Monitoring Centre and a personal alarm button that can be worn as a pendant or wristband.
If you need help:
- Press your alarm button.
- You will be connected to the Lifeline Monitoring Centre.
- A Lifeline Advisor will speak to you through the Lifeline unit to assess the situation.
- The Advisor will arrange the most appropriate support.
- If needed, a Mobile Responder can be sent to your home to provide assistance.
As part of the service, you will also receive a key safe to help emergency responders gain access to your property when required.
The service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Lifeline packages
There are two packages available:
Lifeline
The Lifeline package includes:
- Lifeline alarm unit
- Personal alarm pendant or wristband
- 24-hour monitoring service
- 24-hour Mobile Responder Service
- Key safe supplied and fitted
- Annual equipment check
- Equipment maintenance
- Battery replacements
It costs £3.61 per week and a £55.31 one off installation charge
Lifeline Home Safety Package
The Lifeline Home Safety Package includes everything listed in the Lifeline package, plus additional home safety sensors to help protect you and your home.
The items include:
- Everything included in the lifeline package
- 2 smoke detectors
- 1 heat detector
- 1 carbon monoxide detector
- 2 flood detectors
- 1 bogus caller button
It costs £7.07 per week and a £55.13 one off installation charge.
Specialist Telecare equipment
If you have mobility needs, memory needs or have a live in carer you could be benefit from additional equipment through our Telecare Service.

Request Lifeline or Lifeline Home Safelty Package
You can request for Lifeline or the Lifeline Home Safety Package for yourself or on behalf of a family member or friend.
You can pay either monthly by Direct Debit, or in one annual payment when you receive your invoice. Our installer will discuss the payment options with you when your equipment is installed.

Cancel
If your circumstances change and you no longer need your Lifeline service you can cancel the service. We can arrange to collect the equipment from you or provide details of where it can be returned
Charges will continue until the equipment has been returned to the Council.
