Street lights - Report a problem

If the light has one of the following faults it can be reported using our online form.
  • not lit or dim (some lights are switched off between 1am and 6am during British Summer Time and between midnight and 5am during winter).
  • lit during the day
  • flickering

The fault will be attended within five working days. Generally, faults are repaired at first visit, but if the issue is related to a third party, such as a Western Power Distribution fault, or damaged supply cable, this period may be extended.

Street lighting emergencies

If the light has one of the following faults please call 01443 425001 during the hours of 8:30am - 5:00pm or 01443 425011 during evenings and weekends.

  • unsafe or damaged lamp post or head.
  • column door missing
  • wires exposed

Part-Night Lighting

Approximately 50% of Council owned street lights operate on a part-night basis.  This means that about 14,000 street lights are switched off between 1am and 6am during British Summer Time and between midnight and 5am during winter.
