Transport Policy and local Transport Plan

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is at the heart of bringing a host of partners together to deliver a transport network which serves the needs of local residents, visitors and businesses today and into the future.

The Council assesses the impact of development proposals (such as new housing and supermarkets) on the local transport network and strives to ensure that every aspect of our transport infrastructure operates to support a thriving economy and environment.

One of our main responsibilities is to produce a Transport Plan. This document sets out our thinking on the area's future transport needs, ways of increasing the transport choice for local residents and ways of improving their access to jobs, education, healthcare and other services.

The South East Wales Valleys Local Transport Plan, which includes the Rhondda Cynon Taf area, has been formally approved by the Welsh Government. It is a comprehensive plan, covering the period 2015 - 2020 and builds upon the success of the previous Sewta Regional Transport Plan. It has been produced following extensive consultation with the public and our strategic partners.
