Clear Recycling Bags and Food Bags

Clear recycling and food waste recycling bags are available for collection from the following locations

These bags should only be used for their stated purpose.  Please note that there is a strict limit of 2 rolls of each bag per visitor to prevent the distribution point from running out of bags in between deliveries.  Clear recycling and food waste recycling bags are no longer available to order online.

Please be aware that there is currently an issue with the strength and quality of a small number of CLEAR recycling bags.

Following discussions with the manufacturer the issue has now been resolved, however due to the way that they are distributed and households having ‘stock’ at home there may continue to be some of the affected bags in circulation.

If you have some of the bags that are affected, we are advising residents to double bag your recycling or to only half-fill the bags to prevent them from splitting.

There are also a small number of CLEAR recycling bags in circulation that don’t contain any text/printed logos on the front of the bag. This is due to processes at the manufacturing stage, and therefore out of the Council’s control.  They can however continue to be used in the same way as the normal recycling bags.

Our normal recycling bags will return to circulation in the next few weeks.

Large Food Bags

The Council has improved and strengthened its small food waste bags and no longer provides large food waste recycling bags for residents. The Council has spoken to its contractor and residents are able to use approved, fully compostable large food waste bags to line your large outdoor caddy.

Failure to comply with the information could result in your food waste not being collected. CLEAR recycling bags should NOT be used to line your food waste caddy as these will contaminate your recycling.

Nappy/Incontinence - Purple Bags

Orders for Nappy/Incontinence - Purple bags for registered customers can be made online.

Green Waste Sacks

Once you have registered for your green waste collections, you can order more bags online.

All bags/sacks should only be used for their stated purpose.  Please note that there is a strict limit of 2 rolls of each recycling and food waste bag per visitor to prevent the distribution point from running out of bags in between deliveries.

Clear recycling and food waste recycling bags are no longer available to order online.  This is to meet the high demand for bags at distribution points and allow the Council to focus resources on the most popular method for residents to collect recycling bags.  This also contributes towards reducing the Council’s carbon footprint.

The Council has improved the strength of the small food waste recycling bag making them less likely to split and break.  The large food bags will therefore be phased out from April 2023.  The one bag for food waste will make food recycling easier plus it also helps save the Council around £0.5M per year.  Food bags are still free and can be collected from local distribution points.
