You need to recycle batteries at a Community Recycling Centre or local supermarket. Putting batteries into black bags or recycling bags damages the environment and can cause fires during processing.

Household batteries
You can take household batteries and electrical goods that contain them to your local Community Recycling Centre to be recycled.
Car and vehicle batteries
You can take large batteries for cars and other vehicles to our Community Recycling Centres at:

Shops and supermarkets
Many shops and supermarkets that sell batteries have to provide battery recycling points in-store.
This includes standard sized batteries, including:
- AAA and AA cells
- Size C and D
- rechargeable batteries
They will also accept removable batteries from common devices. This can include batteries from:
- mobile phones
- laptops
- hearing aids
- watches
- portable cameras
- torches
- electric toothbrushes
- razors
- hand-held vacuum cleaners
