'The Shed' concept, gives residents the opportunity to purchase items deposited at the Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) from members of the public. From books to toys, bikes, crockery, ornaments, furniture and much more, the shops give a new lease of life to items which would otherwise have been thrown out. The shelves and floor space are always brimming with an array of items with lots of treasures ready to be discovered.

Both shops sell items that have been saved from landfill by attendants and volunteers at the Community Recycling Centres. Items can also be donated to the shops, so if you are taking a trip to the recycling centres, please donate any items that could be re-used!

From books to toys, bikes, crockery, ornaments, DVDs, furniture and much more. It's like an everyday car boot sale, filled with treasure - you never know what you might find!

Attendants and volunteers check to ensure that items are in safe and good working order - before thoroughly cleaning them and putting them on sale.

The Shed is ensuring more and more recyclable items are being kept out of landfill, building upon the momentum already created by the Council in improving its recycling record.

During May 2017, the Welsh Government confirmed more than 64% of Rhondda Cynon Taf’s waste was recycled in 2016 – a County Borough record for a 12-month period, maintaining its place above the Welsh average. Initiatives like The Shed will help the Council hit the Welsh Government’s target of 70% by 2024-25.
