Statutory Assessment process- Special Educational Needs (SEN)

All schools should be able to provide children with additional learning needs a great deal of support from their own resources.

Although, some children with more severe or complex needs might need more assistance than school can provide. For these children and young people, support from specialist services may need to be provided to ensure they can reach their full potential.

For a small minority of children a statutory assessment is carried out to establish their more complex needs. This may lead to an assessment of special educational needs which will outline the support and school placement of the child or young person.
