Dare Valley Country Park

Trecynon, Aberdare CF44 7RG

Stand at the edge of a breathtaking mountain-top country park formed over millions of years and walk in the footsteps of dinosaurs.

Every decade that has passed since Ice Age glaciers formed the landscape has shaped the geological and environmental present of Dare Valley Country Park in Aberdare.

This outdoor space is packed with birds, bees, butterflies and peregrines, which can be spotted from the many walks and trails that cross the park.

With views over lovely Aberdare town and up to the Brecon Beacons, Dare Valley County Park is a great place to spend the day – and the night!

It was one of the first Dark Sky Wales sites to be accredited, meaning it is one of the best star-gazing spots in the UK. Take advantage of the on-site camping facilities to camp under the stars.

It also has an outdoor activity centre where you can enjoy bushcraft, archery and more and it regularly hosts events for little ones, such as pond dipping, crafts and bug hunts.

The on-site Cwtch Cafe offers a great range of drinks, snacks and hot meals.
