There are over 500 acres of open space just waiting to be explored at Dare Valley Country Park in Aberdare.
It’s a Valleys Regional Park Discovery Gateway Site and part of a project to link together open spaces across the region to celebrate and protect our cultural, industrial and natural heritage.
The brand new adventure playground has opened at the site and more developments, including mountain bike trails, due soon!
The park has been reclaimed from centuries of industry and sits on the footprint of four former coal mines. You can enjoy a gentle stroll around the lakes or hike up to the top of the mountains for epic views. Click here to download trails
Take a break in Café Cwtch or, if the weather is nice, sit out in the courtyard. Let the kids run wild in the adventure playground.
If you fancy something different, explore the surrounding area on horseback. Contact Greenmeadow Riding School, which is next to the park, for more information.
Don’t forget, you can also stay at Dare Valley Country Park. It has camping facilities and newly refurbished on-site accommodation. There’s no better place to be at night than a park which has Dark Sky Wales accreditation, meaning it offers exceptional, clear, star-gazing opportunities.
