Hackney carriage (taxi)

A 'Hackney Carriage' is more commonly called a Taxi.

This licence is required for any chauffeur-driven hire vehicle with 8 passenger seats or less that will pay for hire, be flagged down or hired at a taxi rank. Once licensed a taxi is always a taxi until the licence expires. These vehicles have a roof sign and must display a yellow plate on the rear of the vehicle, a smaller internal plate, and oval yellow door stickers on both front doors. The plates and door decals will detail the Hackney Carriage licence number.

Licence details
