1. Who we are, what we do.

The role of the Cwm Taf Social Care Workforce Development Service is to:

  • Collate and consider workforce data to inform workforce planning
  • Work in collaboration to take account of national, regional, and local requirements to inform, prioritise and target workforce development needs
  • To provide workforce development opportunities through:
    • A grant-funded workforce development programme available to social care providers in the Cwm Taf locality
    • An annual programme of training and development events
    • The development of flexible training delivery methods
    • Access to conference and network events
    • New qualifications and competence frameworks
    • Qualifying, post-qualifying and CPD/PRTL opportunities for qualified registered workers
    • Ongoing support, advice and guidance
    • A wide range of communication and information – e.g., newsletters and bulletins
    • To evaluate the impact of regional learning and development plans on services and the workforce
    • The primary responsibility for effective training, development and qualification provision for the social care workforce remains with employers. The SCCWDP grant is intended to provide a significant supplement to the resources provided by employers.

2. What and whose personal information we hold?

The types of information we collect, and use will typically include:

  • Information on the trainee including name, address, telephone number, email, DOB, location of employment (service area, company etc), line manager
  • Record of training – course attended, dates, location, grade etc.
  • Qualifications attained – dates of completion, providers, grades etc.
  • Evaluation of training – completion of feedback sheets, including comments about training, this can include name, designation etc where completed (not mandatory)

3. Where does the service get my information from?

For RCT employees, the information will be provided by:

  • Information provided directly by the data subject, line manager e.g., on an application form
  • Internal Human Resources
  • Completion of post course evaluation forms

For non-RCT employees, the information will be provided by

  • Information provided directly by the data subject, line manager or employing organisation e.g., on an application form
  • Completion of post course evaluation forms

4. What will we do with your personal information?

We will use your personal information to:

  • Arrange and deliver appropriate training to meet customer needs
  • Maintain a record of that training
  • Use your feedback to further enhance our training programme

5. What is the legal basis for the use of this information?

We need to process your personal information to carry out a task in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority in our capacity as a public body under The Social Services and Well-being Act 2014.

6. Does the service share my personal information with any other organisation?

In the case of Council employees, we would share your information with:

  • Community and Children’s Services – to maintain records of the training as required law
  • Line Manager – e.g., to confirm attendance / completion of the course
  • Examiner / training providers – City and Guilds etc to verify the examinations and training records.

For external trainees we will share information with:

  • Employer – e.g., to confirm attendance / completion of the course
  • Examiner / training providers – City and Guilds etc to verify the examinations and training records.

7. How long will my information be kept?

We will only keep your personal information for as long as we need it, depending on the nature of the information and any legal requirements.
