Did you know that globally we lose one man to suicide every minute of every hour of every day? Or that testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 15-34?
That’s why Rhondda Cynon Taf are taking part in Movember. This is a campaign to raise awareness about mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men.
How can you get involved?
- Grow a mo. Grow a moustache as a symbol for supporting better mens health. Doing this also helps to grab attention and start conversations.
- Move for mental health. Moving is how Movember remembers the 60 men lost to suicide globally, every hour. To take part, all you have to do is run or walk 60km. Cover the distance in one go or over the month.
- Host a mo-ment.Host an event of your choice that raises awareness and funds for men’s health. This could be anything from a charity race, a cake sale or anything else you and your colleagues could enjoy together.
- Mo your own way. Climb a mountain, break a personal best, quit a bad habit for a month or take on a dare for men’s health. Do it in the way that works for you.
- Donate. If you don’t feel like doing an activity you can still donate to the cause. This is the link to the fundraising page where you can donate to support your colleagues and the Movember cause.
Whichever way you choose to fundraise, share this link with family, friends and colleagues to raise money for men’s health.
Share your moustaches, activities, and events on our facebook page. If you aren’t already a member you can join by searching ‘Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Staff’ and joining.
