Proposal to realign Learning Support Class provision within RCT

The Council has commenced consultation on the above proposals download a copy of our consultation document  which fully outlines these proposals.

The consultation will run from Friday 19th October 2018 and will end 5pm Friday 21st December 2018.

Details of where any correspondence should be sent is included in the consultation document. 

A Welsh Language and Community Impact Assessments are not required for these proposals, however, an Equality Impact Assessment has been prepared.

Proposals to reorganise school provision in the Pontypridd and Hawthorn areas.

The Council has commenced consultation on several proposals to reorganise primary and secondary education in the Pontypridd and Hawthorn areas of RCT. The main proposals can be summarised as follows:

  • Closure of Pontypridd High School and Cilfynydd Primary School and the creation of a new ‘all through’ 3 – 16 school on the Pontypridd High School site
  • Closure of Hawthorn High School, Hawthorn Primary School and Heol y Celyn Primary School and the creation of a new ‘all through’ 3 – 16 school on the adjacent sites of Hawthorn High and Hawthorn Primary Schools ( the English Medium stream of Heol y Celyn would join this provision).
  • Closure of YGG, Pont Sion Norton and the relocation of its education provision to a new school that will be constructed on the former Heol y Celyn site (the Welsh Medium stream of Heol y Celyn would join this provision)
  • Closure of the sixth form at Cardinal Newman RC Comprehensive School and the expansion of the sixth form provision at Bryncelynnog Comprehensive School, to create a sixth form ‘centre of excellence.

Consultation will commence on 15th October 2018 and will end at 5pm on 31st January 2019. The consultation document provides details of consultation events that have been organised and also gives information as to where any comments or questions regarding these proposals may be sent.

Proposal to Extend Dolau Primary School

The Council has commenced consultation on a proposal to extend the education provision at Dolau Primary School, Llanharan, to cater for the known housing development at the Llanilid Opencast Site.

The consultation will run from Monday, 1st October and will end at 5pm on Monday, 31st December 2018. Full details of our proposals, plus information on where you may forward any comments, or ask any questions you may have are contained in a consultation document.

Proposals to Re-organise School Provision in the Hirwaun and Penderyn areas of Rhondda Cynon Taf

The Council has commenced consultation on the above proposals. Download a copy of our consultation document, which fully outlines these proposals.

Your views and opinions are really important to us and we want to ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to engage in these important proposals which seek to invest over £10million in a new school building and facilities.  The closing date for the receipt of any comments, queries or questions relating to these proposals is 31st December 2018.  Details of where any correspondence should be sent is included in the consultation document.

As part of this process, a consultation drop in session is being held at Hirwaun Primary School on Tuesday 27th November from 3pm to 6pm and all are welcome to attend.
