RCTinvest is supporting the development of sporting facilities including leisure centres and outdoor pitches across RCT through a £1.7million investment.
Abercynon, Hawthorn, Rhondda, Bronwydd and Llantwit Fadre leisure facilities have already benefited from RCTinvest with new modern gyms, welcoming reception areas, and other facilities being developed for the benefit of Leisure for Life members and casual visitors.
Astroturf pitches in Rhondda, Cynon and Taff Ely will be upgraded to 3G pitches for the benefits of clubs and the local communities. The Council has also provided funding through RCTinvest to support the development of a 4G playing surface for Sardis Road Rugby Ground which will benefit Pontypridd Rugby Club, Coleg Y Cymoedd and local sports clubs and communities.
The investment, as well as the introduction of the easy, affordable Leisure for Life membership, is part of a commitment from Cabinet to invest in improving the Council’s leisure offering so it can compete with the private sector and ensure the future sustainability of leisure services in RCT.
