This project will provide a new school building with state-of-the-art facilities on the existing school site, to replace the older and temporary accommodation currently being used.
In December 2022, Welsh Government confirmed its contribution to this project, which will be funded via the Mutual Investment Model (MIM) – the revenue funding stream of Welsh Government’s Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme.
As part of the site’s phased development, new temporary accommodation was installed in 2023 to enable the main new build construction works to commence. The main construction works will replace the current buildings at the school – including temporary classrooms – with a two-storey new build, which will be Net Zero Carbon in operation. The development, due to be delivered in spring 2025 by Morgan Sindall Construction, will accommodate 480 pupils plus 60 nursery places.
The completed development will deliver a vibrant learning environment, while also providing community-use facilities. It will include new external facilities such as a car park (including four EV charging spaces), a two-court Multi Use Games Area and green spaces – in contrast to the hard landscape of the current site.
These images highlight the progress made in recent months, with the development shown in August 2024 and February 2024 respectively.
