Council 'Highly Commended' At Management Awards

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has been ‘Highly Commended’ at the Excellence in People Management Awards 2021, which were held during the Public Services People Managers Association Virtual Conference.

The Council picked up the award in the Best Talent Programme category, sponsored by Tribepad. Awards organisers said this category recognises employers who are seeking to address the challenge of skills shortages within the public sector across the UK by implementing a future-fit, evidence-based and ethical talent management strategies to address the current and future needs of their organisation.

Councillor Maureen Webber, Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council Deputy Leader, said: “I am delighted that the Council is being recognised in this way for its exemplary work in the public sector and I wish to congratulate all of our staff who are a shining light to other organisations across the country.

“Being Highly Commended at the Excellence in People Management Awards 2021, follows on from previous success and recognition for the Council already this year at the Personnel Today Awards and the Apprenticeship Cymru Awards.

“The recruitment of apprentices is one of the Council’s longstanding commitments to our local community, exceeding our commitment two years early to provide 150 apprentice and graduate positions by the end of the Council term.

The Council recognised early on that if you want to build the skills needed to modernise and deliver future services for residents, apprentices are crucial to this.”

For more than 40 years, the Public Services People Managers Association has been the collective voice for a highly qualified, passionate, committed and diverse public services Human Resources and Organisation. It plays a critical role in influencing key decision-makers and stakeholders involved in people management and workforce issues.
