Take a Big Bite out of events this year!

252

The 2025 events calendar is here and features the return of many firm favourites! There’s something for every season and as always, we get off to a treat filled start as the Easter Bunny returns to his burrow at Rhondda Heritage Park Museum for Easter Egg-stravaganza on 24th & 25th April.  Tickets for this will be on sale at www.rhonddaheritagepark.com - keep an eye on @whatsonrct on facebook, Instagram and ‘X’ for ticket announcements!

Aberdare Festival will take place on Saturday 24th May this year with live music, children’s entertainment and all the fun of the fair!  If you would like a stall for this event, application forms are out now and available at www.aberdarefestival.co.uk

8th May 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of VE Day - the day World War II ended in Europe. We will be joining a nationwide celebration as Beacons are lit throughout the UK to commemorate this special anniversary. Plans are also underway for a celebration event in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park on 10th May 2025.  More information on the beacon lighting ceremony and celebration event will be available nearer the time.

We return to Rhondda Heritage Park Museum for the start of the summer season on 28th June for the ever-popular Classic Car Show. One for all the vintage car enthusiasts!

There’s great news for August as Ynysangharad War Memorial Park will be filled with tasty treats and entertainment! Our flagship summer event, the Big Welsh Bite, took a break last year but returns in full foodie force on August 2nd & 3rd.  Keep up to date with the return of this event and apply for a stall now at www.bigwelshbite.co.uk

It’s time to get spooky on 29th & 30th October as Rhondda Heritage Park Museum is filled with pumpkins for pickin’ and so much more spooky fun at Halloween Spooktacular.

The beginning of November is a time for remembrance as services and concerts are held all over the country to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts. A Festival of Remembrance will take place on November 1st and more details on this concert will be announced later in the year.  Pontypridd Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade will also take place on 9th November.

The busy events year ends with Christmas celebrations and the world-famous Nos Galan Road Races.  Santa’s Toy Mine will fill Rhondda Heritage Park Museum with children (and grown-ups!) on the hunt for Santa from 22nd November to Xmas Eve and Xmas events will take place in our town centres throughout November and December.  The Nos Galan Road Races will end the year with a bang as fireworks celebrate the runners on the route through Mountain Ash town centre.  Who will be the Mystery Runner in 2025??  Come along and find out!

Councillor Bob Harris, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Communities said:

The events calendar is busier than ever in 2025. Over 250,000 residents and visitors came along and enjoyed events in 2024 which of course included the National Eisteddfod of Wales. It’s hoped that visitors will return this year to enjoy the fantastic events we have to offer here in Rhondda Cynon Taf.  The Big Welsh Bite, Aberdare Festival are always a big hit - as indeed are all our family friendly events! We hope to see even more residents coming along to enjoy what’s on offer all around Rhondda Cynon Taf. There’s a lot to explore in our parks and venues throughout the year. I’m looking forward to a great year of entertainment in 2025!
