Your school trip could be entirely funded by the GEM Museum Bursary Scheme

With the support of Welsh Government, the Group for Education in Museums is launching a new scheme to enable schools to visit local museums in Wales. The new Museum Visits Bursary scheme, funded by the Welsh Government’s culture division, will help state-maintained schools in Wales to enable their students to experience local museums throughout Wales.

Schools can apply for bursaries of up to £1,000 to cover 100% of the cost of a museum visit, including transport, entrance fees, workshops, and staffing costs. The bursary requires no match-funding, making it easier for teachers to give their students the opportunity to explore their local heritage.  For more information and an application form, please click here.

In addition to being one of Rhondda Cynon Taf’s top tourist attractions, Rhondda Heritage Park Museum offers a wide range of educational experiences that brings our rich industrial past to life in a fun and engaging way for school pupils. We’re proud to support schools with programmes that ignite curiosity, deepen historical understanding, and give children a powerful sense of place and identity. It’s an invaluable asset to our region’s learning landscape.
