Street lighting works to begin at Sardis Road Car Park

Residents and visitors to Pontypridd Town Centre are advised about essential upcoming work at Sardis Road Car Park, which will reduce its capacity by around half on a temporary basis from Monday, July 21.

The Council will soon deliver extensive street lighting improvements, with additional columns being installed to bring better lighting levels throughout the whole car park, upon the work’s completion. The existing high mast at the car park will also be removed as it has reached the end of its intended design life.

Centregreat Ltd has been appointed by the Council to deliver the scheme on site from July 21. The work is scheduled during the school summer holiday to minimise disruption, and it is expected to last around six weeks in total.

The contractor will cordon off all work areas, and the sections of the car park that will be temporarily unavailable to the public will be clearly marked. Around half of the current car park spaces will be brought out of use during the work.

Several other Council car parks are available across Pontypridd Town Centre as an alternative – at Gas Road, Goods Yard (Council-owned section), Catherine Street, Millfield, and Berw Road. Please note that Gas Road Car Park is a short-stay facility, allowing a maximum parking period of four hours.

Thanks to residents and visitors to Pontypridd for your cooperation while these essential works are carried out at Sardis Road Car Park. Find out more about Council car parks in Rhondda Cynon Taf on our website.
