The Cwm Taf Social Care Award Ceremony, held on April 9, 2025, at Cynon Linc in Aberdare, was a successful celebration of the achievements of social care professionals across Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil.
Organised in partnership with Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, the event highlighted the dedication of staff within the social care sector, as well as inspiring individuals to pursue further professional development opportunities.
Those in attendance included Sian Nowell, Director of Adult Services for Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, and Kristie Llewelyn, Principal Manager for Adult Services for Merthyr Tydfil Council, who guided the event as masters of ceremonies. Their contributions, alongside guest speakers and dignitaries – including Ceri Lynne Higgins, Gwawr Williams, Nicola Richards, and Claire Ball-Kaler – helped to make the ceremony truly memorable.
Additionally, the ceremony was supported by the mayors from both local authorities, Councillor Sheryl Evans for Rhondda Cynon Taf and Councillor John Thomas for Merthyr Tydfil, as well as Councillor Gareth Caple, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care at Rhondda Cynon Taf, who assisted by presenting awardees with their certificates.
A wide range of qualifications were presented, including vocational Health and Social Care qualifications, BA degrees in Social Work, ILM management qualifications, Social Work Practice Education Awards, and Assessment of Vocational Achievement awards.
Special thanks go to Cynon Linc, Aberdare, for their hospitality and partnership in hosting the event, ensuring a seamless and celebratory atmosphere for all, and congratulations to all recipients for their achievements.
