The Council recycled 64% of its overall waste in 2016/17, however, in order to avoid significant fines we need to recycle 70% by 2024/25, a target set by the Welsh Government.
In order to boost recycling rates further, the number of black bags/bins you are permitted each fortnight has been limited to two standard bags for black bag collections and one wheellie bin only (lid MUST close) for bin collections - view details on the black bag/bin limits.

Black Bag Waste
| Yes|| || || No|
Put all other household waste into the normal black refuse bag. If it cannot be recycled, please check packaging and check our CLEAR searchable A-Z Recycling Guide to find out more.
||Recyclable materials which could go into
any of the recycling bags. DO NOT use
any of the recycling bags for your refuse. At least 80% of your household rubbish can be recycled.
Please note: Sharp objects should be well wrapped up in; for example newspaper, cereal box etc and put in a black bag for your fortnightly collection. A note should be left on the bin to alert the collection crew that there is something sharp inside and extra care will be taken.
Bulky Item disposal
For any items that you can't recycle or for items that are too large for waste collection please consider our Bulky Item Collection Service.
There are also alternatives for items that can be re-used. Furniture items can be donated to our local furniture recycling charity, Too Good To Waste . Small household items can be donated to The Shed at Llantrisant Community Recycling Centre.
