Action for Nature

Action for Nature is the new nature recovery action plan for Rhondda Cynon Taf.

The plan focuses on actions needed to help wildlife to thrive in Rhondda Cynon Taf and includes a huge amount of information about the habitats and species that make RCT so special.

The ‘How can I help?’ section has some suggested actions for a variety of different groups of people so that you can find out how you can best help RCT’s wildlife.

The plan includes some general actions which apply to all habitats and species and also some more specific actions which apply to certain habitats such as grasslands, woodlands, freshwater and urban areas. There are also specific actions for particular species or species groups which have been highlighted as key for RCT.

The plan has been prepared by the RCT Local Nature Partnership and has involved many local naturalists, community organisations and voluntary conservation groups as well as staff from the Council and Natural Resources Wales.

Swift in Schools

The Swifts in Schools project is an exciting project aimed at helping Swifts in the RCT area.

Swift numbers have declined drastically over the past 25 years and action is needed to help them recover. The Swifts in Schools project involves installing nest boxes at suitable schools in RCT and using a call system to help the Swifts find the boxes.
