Asbestos can be found in a number of building materials and products. If materials containing asbestos are damaged they can release fibres into the air that are hazardous to your health. You need to dispose of it properly for everyone’s safety.
Asbestos can be found in some:

- Insulation boards
- Ceiling and floor tiles
- Roofing sheets
- Car brakes and clutches
Booking and preparing asbestos to be recycled
Our Community Recycling Centre at Ty Amgen, Llwydcoed will accept asbestos from households in RCT.
To take asbestos to the centre you must:
- Call Ty Amgen Community Recycling Centre on 07971913289 to book your disposal.
- Package it as instructed by Ty Amgen.
- Attend at the arranged date and time.
- Take proof of residency with you.
Paying for asbestos to be removed privately
If you pay for a builder or company to remove asbestos then they are responsible for removing and disposing of it.
It is important to check that the business has an up to date waste carrier licence.
