How it works

Green Waste Collections are a FREE weekly service for residents of Rhondda Cynon Taf. You need to register to start receiving collections.

Green Waste collections are free and collected from your kerbside. Using our collections allows your waste to be turned into compost and keeps your car free of messy green waste tip runs! 

Within 2 weeks of registering, you will receive two free green waste sacks, plus any extra sacks you have bought. You can buy additional green waste sacks for £3 each when you register or at a later date. Collections work on a summer and winter collection schedule.

Follow these instructions when putting your green waste sacks out for collection:

Register

Register your address to receive green waste collections and sacks. 

Within 2 weeks of registering, you will receive two free green waste sacks, plus any extra sacks you have bought. You can buy additional green waste sacks for £3 each when you register or at a later date.

Summer and Winter Collections.

Green waste collections work on a Summer and Winter collection schedule.

Summer Green Waste runs from 16th March 2026 to 14h November 2027. Collections will happen automatically on your usual bin collection day.

Winter Green Waste runs from 3rd November 2025 to 16th March 2026. During this time, you need to book each collection.

Cancel your winter green waste booking online if its no longer needed.

What can go in your sacks?

What you can and can't put in your green waste sacks.

Yes:

  • Grass cuttings
  • Hedge trimmings
  • Flowers
  • Flower root balls
  • Sawdust
  • Bedding for small hutch animals

No: 

  • Food waste
  • General waste
  • Soil, mud or clay blocks
  • Rubble
  • Invasive plants (e.g. knotweed)
  • Wood, branches or Logs
  • Garden ornaments and toys

Items that cannot be recycled in your green waste may be disposed of at your Community Recycling Centre or by signing up for the Food Waste Recycling Scheme

Order more sacks

Registered customers can buy extra sacks for £3 each. Each green sack holds 90 litres (45cm x 45cm x 45cm). That's equivalent to two and a half clear recycling bags.

Manage your collections

Report a missed green waste collection, report lost, damaged or stolen sacks, change your collection address or cancel your collections.

Report a missed collection

If your green waste sacks have not been collected within 24 hours of your scheduled collection, you can report a missed collection online.

Change of address

If your new address is already registered for the green waste scheme, the sacks should be left ready for you to use.  If sacks have not been left, please report the missing sacks using our online form

If the new property is not registered for green waste collections,  register the property for collections.

Cancel your collections

Residents can cancel green waste collections online.  Your sacks will be removed at your next scheduled collection.  Additional sacks ordered are not refundable.
