Over the next five years, the Council's Waste and Resource Strategy aims to increase recycling, reduce waste, and make better use of resources to support a cleaner and more sustainable Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Our strategy focuses on providing residents with simple and convenient recycling services while working towards recycling rates above 70%.
What the strategy aims to achieve
- Increase recycling rates and maintain performance above the Welsh Government target of 70%.
- Reduce the amount of waste sent for disposal and landfill.
- Help households reduce the amount of waste they produce.
- Encourage more residents to recycle food waste, garden waste and everyday household recycling.
- Reuse, recycle and compost as much waste as possible.
- Support a circular economy where materials are reused and recycled into new products.
- Improve the efficiency and sustainability of waste and recycling services.
- Reduce the carbon emissions associated with collecting, recycling and disposing of waste.
Reducing waste, reusing more materials and increasing recycling will help protect the environment, cut carbon emissions, conserve resources and create a more sustainable future for local communities.
