Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and the Nos Galan Committee is delighted to announce the two Support Runners for the 2015 Nos Galan Road Races.
Steffan Dylan Jones, 14, is a pupil at Ysgol Gyfun Rhydywaun Aberdare, and a member of Aberdare Valley Amateur Athletics Club since he was eight.
He has previously competed in cross country events for his school and at club level, although his main achievements have been at the various distance events on the track.
He has also been successful at sprints - his best and most recent accomplishments have been in the 200m and 300m, which resulted in him being ranked among Wales’ top five runners in his age category.
For the last few years, Steffan has also competed for the South Wales Athletics Team, both on home territory and across the border into the South West.
One of the proudest moments of his athletics career so far came at the Leckwith track this summer when he broke three of his school's long-standing records in the 200m, 300m and 800m races.
Steffan has competed in the Nos Galan Road Races for a number of years, coming second in one of his earliest races.
Bethan Haf Phillips, 16, is an A-Level student at St John Baptist School, Aberdare.
She is currently coaching a group of junior members at Aberdare Valley Amateur Athletics Club, as a requirement of the Welsh Baccalaureate Community Challenge and Duke of Edinburgh Silber Award, having been a club member since the age of 11.
Bethan has represented both her club and school at district and regional athletics events in the 100m, 200m and long jump.
She also regularly competes in fundraising events with her friends, such as the Race for Life Muddy 5k Challenge.
Both Steffan and Bethan are delighted to be a part of the 2015 Nos Galan Road Races, which take place in Mountain Ash on New Year’s Eve.
The pair will accompany the 2015 Nos Galan Mystery Runner…..but who will it be this year?
