The race spaces  have sold out, and the countdown is on, so it is time to thank the Nos Galan Road Races 2025 sponsors - whose support means we are able to bring you this year’s races.

Local businesses (and employers) Trivallis, Walters, Prichard’s, Amgen and Transport for Wales have been confirmed as the sponsors for the 2025 Nos Galan Road Races.

Keeping up their support is Brecon Carreg,  who will once again be generously supplying athletes with bottled water for the evening.

The Nos Galan Road Races Committee is also pleased to confirm it has secured support from the UK Government, via the Shared Prosperity Fund, towards the event this year.

Nos Galan Road Races is now in its 67th year and maintains its reputation as one of the most unusual and legendary events in the Welsh sporting calendar.

Testament to this is the 2,000 plus people who have secured race spaces and will be running in the historic town of Mountain Ash  on New Year’s Eve, following in the steps of the hundreds of thousands of runners who came before them.

They run to test their sporting skills and athletic abilities , to have fun and to celebrate New Year’s Eve in a traditional way.

But they also run to keep the legend alive, remembering Guto Nyth Bran, once the fastest man on Earth, in whose memory the races were started by the late Bernard Baldwin MBE in 1958.

You can read more about the incredible life of Guto Nyth Bran here.

Since the death of Bernard Baldwin MBE in 2017, Nos Galan has also been a celebration of the man who made it happen all those years ago, and whose commitment ensured the races returned to Mountain Ash year on year.

Ann Crimmings, Chair of the Nos Galan Road Races Committee, said: “We are very grateful to the Nos Galan 2025 sponsors and hope they are proud to be able to support our award-winning, legendary event.

“It is great our sponsors are local companies, all providing excellent support and services for the people of Rhondda Cynon Taf and, in many cases, employment also. They each have a stake  in our communities and have recognised the importance of the Nos Galan Road Races by offering their support.

“Of course, Nos Galan is now an international event and has welcomed runners and spectators from all over the world. It’s great to be able to host them in Mountain Ash and provide an evening of sporting excellence and inspiration, as well as a magical way to end one year and see in another.”

Llantrisant-based Prichard’s was launched in 1995 as a plant hire company and has since evolved into one of the biggest construction and demolition support services in the UK. The company has never forgotten it’s origins and has sponsored Nos Galan year on year as a display of support and appreciation for its communities.

Amgen Cymru is a key partner in Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s fight against waste and drive towards sustainability. As well as providing waste management and recycling service support, it also runs the massive Bryn Pica site near Aberdare, where waste is sorted and every item that can be recycled – or reused – is sorted. The centre also plays an important part in inspiring the next generation of “green” residents, with an education centre for school or group bookings.

Pontypridd-based Trivallis is one of the largest social landlords in Wales and provides homes for tens of thousands of people across Rhondda Cynon Taf.  Trivallis has won a range of awards and wide acclaim for its work to not only provide safe, modern and efficient homes, but to rebuild and reinvigorate communities.

Transport for Wales was created in 2016 to do more than run trains. We were set up to transform how Wales moves.
Today, our role is much bigger. We’re not just about trains, but buses, bikes, walking and wheeling. Only by thinking about transport in a joined-up way can we truly change how our nation travels.

We want to be Wales’ favourite way to travel - helping people move in ways that are good for the planet, good for the pocket and good for real life.

That’s why we’re building the T Network: an integrated, multimodal transport system that connects trains, buses, walking, wheeling and cycling. It will be a network for all – open, affordable and accessible. It will work seamlessly, with one timetable to plan journeys and one ticket to get from A to B.

Walters is a family-owned group of companies based in Hirwaun, specialising in civil engineering, plant, and development. Established in 1982, we have grown to employ over 1,000 people, many of whom live and work in Rhondda Cynon Taf. With a proud track record of delivering complex infrastructure projects across the region, we are delighted to support our local community by sponsoring the Nos Galen Road Races.

Nos Galan 2025 is delivered with the support of the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund please???

The race is on, and those who have been successful in securing  their spot will receive their race packs, with race numbers and more information, in December.

In the meantime, visit the Event Information page on the Nos Galan website for details of timings, car parking, park and ride services and changing facilities.

Now, it’s time to get the Nos Galan Torch ready, prepare the town and, of course, guard the identity of the celebrity Mystery Runner until the big night itself. Who will it be?!
