It’s the New Year’s Eve extravaganza that brings thousands of people into Mountain Ash town centre for an evening of athletics, family fun and a celebrity Mystery Runner.
Nos Galan returns to Mountain Ash on December 31, 2019.
Behind the scenes support from RCT-based organisations and employers – as well as businesses that are making a huge difference to life in the county borough – had made the entire evening possible.
Nos Galan 2019 was sponsored by Llantrisant-based Prichard’s, RCT-wide Trivallis and Amgen Cymru, which is based in Cynon but provides waste management services across the county borough and beyond, including Council community recycling centres.
The support from each of the businesses has enabled the event, which continues to attract hundreds of runners from across the UK and is now in its 61st year, to go ahead.
For 2019, Walters Sisk Joint Venture, contractors for the long-awaited Cross Valley Link improvements, have also got on board and are sponsoring the fireworks display, one of the highlights of the event.
Grateful for the support and co-operation of residents as they undertake the massive construction project, which has involved overnight work, WSJV wanted to give back and, as a thank you to residents have contributed to the fireworks extravaganza.
And continuing their support from last year are Aldi and Dwr Cymru, whose donations to the event mean competitors can stay hydrated and keep their energy levels up.
Cllr Andrew Morgan, Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and member of the Nos Galan Committee, said: “A huge thank you to our sponsors and supporters who contribute so much to this event.
“Nos Galan is a chance for us to bring the community together and celebrate sporting legends and life in RCT. To do so with the support of businesses who are working in the heart of those communities is important to us.”
