Nos Galan Sponsors

The race spaces are sold, the route is confirmed and race packs will be hitting doormats very soon! The only other thing that makes the award-winning Nos Galan Road Races come together so well is the event sponsors.

It is thanks to generous local firms, including those who continued to support the event when Coronavirus meant it had to be held virtually for two years, that Nos Galan is such a success year on year.

Their support allows us to welcome thousands of people to Mountain Ash on New Year’s Eve to enjoy an unforgettable evening of elite, fun run and children’s races – plus a celebrity mystery runner, fireworks, family fun and more.

Of course, the main man in all the celebrations is Guto Nyth Bran, the legend who was once believed to be the fastest man on earth and could catch a hare with his bare hands. Nos Galan is held in honour of Guto , who is buried in the grounds of St Gwynno’s Church in the Llanwonno Forestry.

For 2022,  four companies have sponsored the Nos Galan Road Races and their logos will feature on many of the race accessories, such as the commemorative programme.

Cllr Ann Crimmings, Chair of the Nos Galan Road Races Committee, said: “It is thanks to the sponsors that we are able to continue the tradition of Nos Galan and keep the legend alive.

“The event attracts runners and spectators from all over the UK and Mountain Ash is filled with people on New Year’s Eve enjoying an unforgettable sporting event as a result.

“We could not do that without the sponsors, and that has especially been the case for the last two years, where Nos Galan became a virtual challenge due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

“Now, we are back where we belong, on the streets of Mountain Ash, for this New Year’s Eve and are delighted and grateful to be doing so with the original sponsors, Prichard’s, Amgen, Trivallis and new sponsors Nathaniel Cars.”

Llantrisant-based Prichard’s was launched in 1995 as a plant hire company and has since evolved into one of the biggest construction and demolition support services in the UK. The company has never forgotten it’s origins and has sponsored Nos Galan year on year as a display of support and appreciation for its communities.

Amgen Cymru is a key partner in Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s fight against waste and drive towards sustainability. As well as providing waste management and recycling service support, it also runs the massive Bryn Pica site near Aberdare, where waste is sorted and every item that can be recycled – or reused – is sorted. The centre also plays an important part in inspiring the next generation of “green” residents, with an education centre for school or group bookings.

Nathaniel Cars have been keeping the residents of Rhondda Cynon Taf and beyond on the road for more than 35 years, thanks to its friendly, professional and knowledgeable teams at its Bridgend and Cardiff car showrooms. Nathaniel Cars join us as sponsors for the first time this year, having already sponsored a number of key community events in Rhondda Cynon Taf , including Teddy Bear’s Picnic, Aberdare Festival and the Big Welsh Bite.

Pontypridd-based Trivallis is one of the largest social landlords in Wales and provides homes for tens of thousands of people across Rhondda Cynon Taf.  Trivallis has won a range of awards and wide acclaim for its work to not only provide safe, modern and efficient homes, but to rebuild and reinvigorate communities.
