October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in the UK, with over 55,000 people being diagnosed with the disease every year.
Being breast aware is important to help you to notice any changes in the look and feel of your breasts. This can then help with early detection and prevention. Please see the be breast aware leaflet here which includes information on how to check your breasts and what you should be looking for.
Breast cancer can also affect men, and is often detected later in men than in women. See more information on how men can check themselves as well as how they can reduce their risk of developing the disease on the Breast Cancer UK website.
Breast Cancer UK also have information and resources for transgender people including risk level and screening information.
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Breast Cancer Now are running their annual Wear it Pink Day on 18th October. This is one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK and has raised millions of pounds for the breast cancer charity. To get involved, complete this registration form and wear it pink!
