The Council has arranged for a local shuttle bus service to run on Sunday evening as a result of a road closure at Newbridge Road in Llantrisant, to facilitate ongoing work as part of the Safe Routes in Communities scheme.
The previously-announced scheme to implement road safety measures throughout Llantrisant started earlier this month. In announcing the work, the Council advised that a part of the scheme – the installation of a new junction plateau at Dan Caerlan – would need to take place under a road closure.
The Council can now confirm this will take place on two Sunday evenings in order to minimise disruption – March 28 and April 18 (from 6pm). Each closure will end by 2am the following Monday morning.
On both occasions, B4595 Newbridge Road will close from either side of its junction with Dan Caerlan, for a total of 325 metres. Access will be maintained for emergency services, pedestrians and to all properties in the vicinity.
An alternative route for motorists will be clearly signposted via Newbridge Road, Llantrisant Road, Gwaunmiskin Road, Tynant Road, Parish Road, Woodlands, B4595 Llantrisant Road, A473, A4119, Talbot Road and High Street – or this route in reverse order for travel in the opposite direction.
Bus passengers are advised that the Edwards Coaches 100 bus service between Pontypridd and Royal Glamorgan Hospital will be unable to serve bus stops in Llantrisant Old Town from 6pm on March 28 and April 18. The service will divert via Yorkdale, the A473 and Cross Inn, in order to serve Talbot Green Bus Station and the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
Edwards Coaches will therefore operate a shuttle bus in each direction between Llantrisant Old Town and Talbot Green Bus Station at 7.55pm, 8.10pm, 9.05pm and 9.20pm. This will allow passengers to meet other services at the bus station during the road closure period.
