Armed Forces Day 2022

Armed Forces Day 2022 - GDPR approved-28

Despite the rainy weather, the communities of Rhondda Cynon Taf came together to mark Armed Forces Day 2022, with a parade and family celebration.

Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd, was filled with representatives from the Armed Forces, their family and friends as a parade made its way through the beautiful open space.

Following the ceremony, the event opened into a community and family event, with a climbing wall, mobile cave experience, small funfair, petting zoo and music from the DB Big Band.

Free to enter, the event was a chance to show support and solidarity with serving and retired members of the Armed Forces, as well as their families.

Cllr Maureen Webber, Deputy Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, said: “Huge thanks to all those who braved the weather and joined us on this important day.

“We were pleased to have representatives from a range of Armed Forces and community groups join us for the parade and service.

“Rhondda Cynon Taf was the first local authority to sign an Armed Forces Community Covenant, formally setting out our commitment to our Armed Forces personnel and their families. Since launching that important pledge exactly 10 years ago, our support and recognition as gone from strength to strength.

“Armed Forces Day is one of those events when we all  have a chance to show our support and appreciation for armed forces personnel and I am pleased so many were able to join us in 2022.”

Armed Forces Day 2022 was sponsored by Nathaniel Cars, which have been keeping the residents of Rhondda Cynon Taf and beyond on the road for more than 25 years, thanks to their friendly and professional teams in Cardiff and Bridgend.
