Users of Catherine Street Car Park in Pontypridd will notice new signage being erected at the facility this week – but please be reminded that car parking charges will not resume until further notice.
The former NCP car park was closed for four days in June 2022 for the installation of new ticket machines, and to carry out cleaning across the wider facility – and the Council is now continuing to work on the final legalities, in order to formally bring the car park back into operation. It remains open for the public to use in the meantime, with charges currently not being applied.
From Wednesday, July 13, signage will be erected around the car park facility – which will include the future tariff. However, the signage will be clear that charging has not yet resumed. The Council will communicate to residents and car park users in advance of charging being resumed, at a future date.
Please note that when parking charges are resumed, Catherine Street Car Park will be brought in line with the Council’s standard charging policy for its long-stay facilities (£1 for up to four hours, £2 for longer). This is significantly cheaper than the previous pricing from the former car park operator. Council car park season tickets (permits) will be able to be used at this facility.
Thanks for your continued cooperation.
