Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is continuing to support its Armed Forces Community and its veterans, many who have been affected by the ongoing events in Ukraine.
Many who are already suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from their times in active service are currently witnessing the military assault unfolding on their television screens and hearing graphic, minute-by-minute reports on their radios.
The Council’s Armed Forces Veterans Service is on hand offering help and support to those who need it the most. It is the first point of contact for many veterans and their families living in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Councillor Maureen Webber, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Deputy Leader and Armed Forces Champion, said: “It is important that all of our veterans of all ages, and their families, know that the Council’s Armed Forces Veterans Service is there to offer them help, support and guidance whenever they need it in their lives.
“Watching these events in Ukraine unfolding before our very eyes due to the rolling media channels brings so many emotions back to those who have seen military service at some point in their lives.
“These people may be living in our towns and villages, but many are still suffering. We owe so much to our Armed Forces, past and present, and we will never forget the sacrifices they have made and continue to make.
“These events in Ukraine are devastating and we will continue to do all we can to help our former servicemen and women with their health and well-being at this time.”
