RCT Learners To Attend VIP World Cup Screening

Rob Page opens Baglan Pitch-3
Learners from Porth Community School will have the best seats in the house for the 2022 FIFA World Cup match tonight – they will be watching it at 10 Downing Street!

The learners will join millions sitting in front of television screens at 6:30pm to watch the World Cup clash between Wales and England in Qatar. Wales must beat England in the last Group game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup to remain in the competition.

Earlier this month, Rhondda-born Wales manager Rob Page named his World Cup squad at the Memorial Hall in his hometown of Tylorstown. He also helped the Council officially open its latest 3G sports facility at the Baglan Field in Penyrenglyn.

The learners from Porth Community School were selected to attend the VIP screening of the match at 10 Downing Street as the sole representatives from Wales alongside children from England.

Yvonne Jones, Headteacher at Porth Community School, said: “This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our learners. Not only will they be watching Wales compete in their first World Cup tournament since 1958, but they will be watching this historic game inside 10 Downing Street.

“We were delighted to receive this invitation, and we hope for a winning result tonight, which will see Wales progress in the World Cup. We send our best wishes to Rhondda’s own Rob Page and the whole Wales squad.”
