Democracy affects all of us – whether we realise it or not. Rhondda Cynon Taf Council provides a vast range of services, from children and adult care to community services, education, leisure, prosperity and development to highways, streetcare, transport, public health and protection and birth, marriage and bereavement services.

From picking up your kerbside recycling each week, emptying bins, licensing issues and the distribution of grants.

The Council is also there in times of need, as was highlighted during the global pandemic which affected us all. Our staff are also there for you during adverse weather conditions as well as during inclement winter weather, whatever time of day or night.

Only recently, the Council’s Cabinet pledged to ensure all of its contracted adult independent social care workers, as well as all direct payment recipients, will be paid at least the Real Living Wage by December this year.

Cabinet has also supported initial plans to utilise new £85M funding from Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools and Colleges Programme – so projects in Llanharry, Cymer, Glyn-coch, Penrhys, Llantwit Fardre and Talbot Green, along with a new special school, can be developed further.

Throughout the summer months, the Council has been carrying out £7.7M school improvements across the County Borough as part of its wider £373.6M #RCTinvest programme, as the Council continues to make significant enhancements to the quality of its schools, which is a vital part of both its school modernisation programme and its 21st Century Schools Programme.
