It is not illegal to have Japanese Knotweed on your land but it is an offence to allow Japanese Knotweed to spread to neighbouring land. It is the landowners responsibility to treat any Japanese Knotweed on their land.

The Council has a responsibility to treat all Japanese Knotweed  on land in its ownership, we have an annual treatment programme treating many sites
