How you need to dispose of different types of medical sharps, bandages and other clinical waste at home.

Medical Sharps

Medical sharps need to be placed in a yellow sharps bin provided by Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health board. 

Medical sharps can include:

  • Needles
  • Syringes
  • Fingerstick devices for testing blood
  • Diabetic sharps

Call Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health board on 03000 123 9208 to arrange for a sharps bin to be delivered or collected.

Infectious waste

Waste contaminated with blood or dialysis waste needs to be placed in orange bags provided by Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health board. 

Infectious waste can include:

  • Wipes
  • Gloves
  • Dressings
  • Bandages
  • Aprons

Call Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health board on 03000 123 9208 to arrange for bags to be delivered or collected.

Incontinence waste

Incontinence Waste Collections are a FREE weekly service for residents of Rhondda Cynon Taf. Register for incontinence waste collections to start receiving collections. Within 2 weeks of registering, we will email you your collection day and deliver your purple bags. You can order more bags online.

Medicines and thermometers

Unwanted medicines can be taken to your local pharmacy for disposal.

This can include:

  • Unwanted tablets or pills
  • Asthma inhalers
  • thermometers
