Young Ambassadors
The Young Ambassador Programme has been refreshed and relaunched for 2024. It will follow a progression pathway consisting of 4 tiers which will reflect the young person’s leadership and development journey at their current stage and not age. Workbooks have been created with different activities and challenges at each specific level. These can be completed in their own time and at their own pace. They will be encouraged to document and demonstrate their progress in creative ways that suits their own learning. The programme is aimed at developing the future leaders of Wales through sport, physical activity, and play.
Young Ambassadors will use their roles to Inspire, Influence, Mentor and Lead within their school or community. With your help we will provide ongoing, person centred support for all Young Ambassadors to develop as confident, motivated, and skilled young leaders. We want them to learn leadership by providing positive and meaningful opportunities and experiences that will enhance their integral skills.
For a full overview of the programme, read the Young Ambassador Movement - Vision for Wales.
Young Ambassadors across Wales will follow the Progression Pathway which consists of four tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum) and reflects a Young Ambassadors leadership and development journey over time. View the progression pathway as a PDF.

Sport RCT Leadership Academy
Sport and physical activity can improve a person’s physical and mental health. With the decline of a workforce within the sector we want to influence change and develop a future workforce in sport and physical activity. Our vision is to create Leadership Academies in schools across RCT that will develop leadership skills, knowledge, and confidence by providing fun, safe and positive opportunities for young people to inspire peers within their school and community through sport and physical activity. We want the academies to compliment and support the work of the Young Ambassador programme with young people aspiring to become a Young Ambassador.
Overall aims of the academies:
- Increase participation
- Pupil voice
- Influence and Inspire others
- Influence change
We believe that leaders can influence others at any age and therefore encourage schools to have a team of leaders from all year groups. The academies can help support extracurricular sport and physical activity, festivals, and transition days. There will be opportunities for the young people to apply for funding to deliver a project that will increase participation within their school. There will be opportunities to network with other leaders, Sport RCT, and partners.
Benefits for the young people:
- Develop Leadership skills
- Develop Problem solving skills
- Develop Communication skills
- Develop Life skills
- Develop Confidence
- Provide volunteering opportunities
- Developing teamwork and time management skills
