Abercynon Sports Centre is the latest Leisure for Life facility to receive investment that will:
- Redesign and extend the existing gym
- Replace outdated gym equipment, replacing it with the very latest models
- Respond to customer feedback on their gym experience
- Repurpose an existing fitness room into a Spin studio, with new flooring, modern mood lighting and brand new bikes, so even more people can enjoy this popular fitness class.

Each piece has been selected based on customer feedback. People have told staff the kit they like and want to keep/see upgraded and the new items they would also like to use in the gym.
It is important to remember Abercynon has a large and diverse customer base – older residents using fitness and exercise to recover from illness or injury use the gym just as often as professional athletes.
This is reflected in the mix of equipment planned for the new-look gym, which includes low impact and specialist machines, as well as called-for weights, racks and platforms.
