An important Resilient Roads scheme has now been completed at Turberville Road in Porth, designed to reduce the risk of highway flooding during storm events

An important repair scheme will start next week (April 28) to A4059 Afon Cynon Bridge, located on the stretch of road between Cwmbach and Asda roundabouts in the Cynon Valley

The Council has now finalised its Resilient Roads programme for 2025/26 – which will design and deliver 10 further schemes to alleviate flood risk at key locations on the highway network

Work started in early March 2025 to repair the large structure, located on the stretch of the A4233 between Gadlys Roundabout and the roundabout near Tesco/McDonald's

Less than five months after construction officially began at the Coed Ely Solar Farm, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, and Vital Energi are celebrating a significant milestone.

Due to the Easter holidays, the Council (including its customer contact centre) will be CLOSED on Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21 – reopening at 9am on Tuesday, April 22

The work started in late January 2025, to tackle the known issue of water running off the mountainside and spilling onto the highway during periods of heavy rainfall and affecting properties

This includes important funding for active travel, resilient roads, road safety, improving pedestrian facilities near schools, and unadopted roads

Cheaper bus travel will again be made available for residents, with all single fares for journeys that start and end within Rhondda Cynon Taf being capped at £1. This will apply in the two-week school Easter holiday in April 2025
