The Council will begin a scheme to replace the automated bollard at Taff Street in Pontypridd, along with a new drainage system at this location, across a series of Sunday works – starting this weekend.
The scheme will remove the current automated bollard and replace it with a newer model that is easier and less expensive to maintain. The Council’s appointed contractor to deliver the scheme is Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd.
Initial ground investigations took place on site during September 2019 in preparation for the main works in early 2020, which were then rearranged due to works required for the Llys Cadwyn and Pontypridd YMCA developments.
The main scheme is now rearranged take place across six Sunday shifts (7am-5pm) to minimise disruption, starting on Sunday, April 18.
During the work hours, no vehicles will be able to enter Taff Street from the location of the automated bollard (at Crossbrook Street). Vehicular access to the Town Centre will be maintained via Penuel Lane, off Gelliwastad Road. Pedestrian access to the Town Centre will be maintained at all times.
