Rhondda Cynon Taf are pleased to announce the re-opening of Hawthorn Swimming Pool on Monday 15
th November.
The pool has been closed since March 2020 and has since June 2020 undergone some refurbishment to the fabric of the building and mechanical plant to future proof the pool.
It will re-open as part of the Leisure for Life brand, which already offers inclusive gym, swim, fitness class and indoor sports memberships across ten other modern leisure centres in the county borough.
Hawthorn Pool will continue to offer school swimming, swimming lessons and space for club swimmers as it did prior to closing in March 2020.
This will be supported by some evening and weekend public opening hours.
The pool will also be part of the Welsh Assembly Free Swim initiative so will offer free swimming to registered Over 60 swimmers and free swim sessions for children during school holidays.
The pool will operate a term time and school holiday programme which will differ.
This will mean that Leisure for Life monthly members can use the pool for free, when available, as part of their membership and non-members can swim on a pay as you go basis.
The pool is just a short distance from Hawthorn Leisure Centre, one of the ten Leisure for Life centres, which offers a modern gym, expert staff and a range of fitness classes.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Heritage Services, said:
“Leisure for Life is an exceptional Council service that already runs ten other successful leisure venues across the county borough, including gyms and swimming pools, we are looking forward to re-opening this pool.”
You can find out more about sessions at Hawthorn Pool via the free Leisure for Life App, where sessions available for booking will be listed.
