Exciting New Season At Our Theatres

Barbara Dickson

RCT Theatres has announced its new Autumn/Winter line-up, with exciting new productions and movies coming to the Coliseum Theatre and Park & Dare Theatre, as well as the welcome return of its family panto!

After a challenging two years, the auditoriums are once again being filled with the sounds of music, laughter and drama.

Councillor Bob Harris, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Communities, said: “It is wonderful to have audiences back at our theatres once again and I am delighted that RCT Theatres has announced an exciting, new, packed and varied season to suit all tastes.

“Both our theatres are special places, steeped in history and firmly established in their local communities, providing entertainment in the 21st Century, just like the day they did when they first opened their doors all those years ago.

“It is wonderful that we have these venues on our doorsteps, attracting some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry – a true testament to the top quality of our shows.”

A Festival of Remembrance, presented by the Council in association with the Royal British Legion, is being staged at the Coliseum Theatre on Sunday, November 6. Music legend Barbara Dickson is in concert at the Coliseum Theatre on Friday, November 11. Wishbone Ash are in concert at the venue on Sunday, November 13.

Taking Flight Theatre’s production Road, by Jim Cartwight, is at the Park & Dare Theatre on September 23-24 and 28-30. Ballet Cymru take to the Treorchy stage on Tuesday, October 4, with Dream.

Frankie’s Guys, celebrating the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons are in concert on Friday, October 28, followed by An Evening with Mal Pope on Thursday, November 3.

Following last year’s smash hit, award-nominated digital family panto, Aladdin, RCT Theatres are also delighted to announce that their brand-new production, Jack & The Beanstalk, will be staged as a live panto this festive season.  Catch Jack & The Beanstalk at the Coliseum Theatre, Aberdare, Friday, December 2 to Sunday, December 11, and at the Park & Dare Theatre, Treorchy, Friday, December 16 to Saturday, December 24.

As part of the performance schedule there will be a Relaxed performance at each venue, a BSL performance at the Park & Dare Theatre and an Audio Described performance at the Coliseum Theatre, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their needs and abilities, can enjoy the wonder of live panto.

Tickets have been capped at 2018 prices, with adult tickets £16, concessions £13, and a Family of Four at £49, which will be welcome news to families planning their Christmas treat this year.
