In light of further progress to the scheme to replace the Llanharan Railway Footbridge, the Council can now confirm that a date has been set to lift the new bridge structure into place.
Subject to weather conditions or cancellation of the rail track possession, the replacement structure will be installed on Saturday, October 14. This date will therefore require a road closure of Bridgend Road (as referenced in the previous update), however precise details of this arrangement will be issued by the Council closer to the date.
In mitigation of any of the above issues arising, the Council has also booked possession of the rail line for the following Saturday (October 21) as a contingency. This date will not, however, be required should the bridge lift proceed as planned on Saturday, October 14.
Following on from the successful bridge lift, the remaining on-site works will be completed over the proceeding four to five weeks where all traffic management will subsequently be removed.
The Council would once again like to take this opportunity to thank residents for their ongoing patience and cooperation with this scheme.
