Licensing Policy Consultation Begins!

Consultation on the County Borough’s Licensing policies is now underway, and residents are being encouraged to have their say!

Licencing policies and guidelines that help keep people safe in Rhondda Cynon Taf regarding the sale of alcohol, provision of entertainment and provision of late-night refreshment will be reviewed as instructed in the statement of Licensing Policy. This MUST be carried out every FIVE years.

The Licensing Act 2003 requires that Licensing Authorities publish a Statement of Licensing Policy which sets out the various factors that they will take into account and consider in the administration and determination of applications made under the Act in relation to the promotion of the Licensing Objectives.

The council recognises both the expectations of local residents for a safe and healthy environment in which to live and work, and the need for the provision of safe and well conducted entertainment, hospitality and leisure facilities throughout the County Borough.

Minimal changes have been made to the current policy, which came into effect in January 2020 and remains fit for purpose. A draft report is available to residents to view, and consultation is taking place between 10th June 2024 to 21st July 2024 for comment.

All responses received within the consultation period will be considered to ensure the policy continues to remain fit for purpose and relevant to the whole of the County Borough.

Each response will be provided to the Council’s licensing committee along with the amended report, should the report be accepted, it will then go before Council for a final approval.
