Councillor Bob Harris, RCT Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Communities, said:
“It is once again extremely pleasing to see so many local community groups and organisations applying for the grant funding available under the U.K. Government's Shared Prosperity Fund.
Having spoken with Officers following the close of applications last Friday (8th March 2024), I can confirm that a significant number of bids - 159 in total - have been received across the Lower and Medium Level awards available.
The total value of grant application requests has been calculated at £3,250,812.24.
Unfortunately, and as was the case in previous years, the total value of grant application requests far outweighs the allocations of £1,425,651 that the Council has over the next financial year, which will inevitably mean that many applicants will therefore not be successful.
In what is undoubtedly a highly competitive bidding process, Officers are now assessing the applications against the criteria and scoring measures before those that have satisfied the objectives and aims of the Fund are presented to the panel for further consideration and determination.''
