Summer of Discovery en mainrs

Families across Rhondda Cynon Taf and beyond are being invited to enjoy an exciting programme of affordable summer activities as Rhondda Heritage Park Museum launches its Summer of Discovery.

Running during the school summer holidays from 21 July to 29 August, the programme offers a packed schedule of hands-on activities, trails, crafts, games and interactive shows, all inspired by the rich heritage, science and stories of the South Wales Valleys.

Each themed week brings a new adventure for visitors of all ages, including Miners’ Fortnight, Prehistoric Wales Week, Space Week, King Coal Week and Bug Week. Activities range from dinosaur digs and seaside games to rocket launches, bug hunts and mining experiences, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Visitors can also take part in the Summer of Discovery Passport scheme, where children and adults can complete weekly trails to collect exclusive stickers and earn a special certificate by the end of the summer.  Trails, crafts, interactive activities and shows will run every week from Tuesday to Friday; trails will also be available on Saturdays.

Craft sessions and trails will run between 10am – 4pm and are priced at £5 per child with no charge for adults.  Visitors are welcome to drop in at anytime throughout the day or spaces can be booked online.

Workshops and shows are also taking place from Tuesday – Friday.  These are priced at £5 per child with no charge for adults.

The programme has been designed to be accessible and affordable for families and all sessions are suitable for children aged three and above, although booking is essential due to limited capacity for some activities.
